Identified as Naga Raju, he was looking for his mother near Rajeev Gruhakalpa, close to Rallaguda Outer Ring Road when a pack of dogs pounced on him.
According to RGI Airport Police, the victim's parents, Kolla Suryakumar and Yadamma, originally from Devarakadra Mandal in Mahabubnagar district, had relocated to Shamshabad eight years ago in search of employment. The family was putting up in a hut near Rallaguda Outer Ring Road.
Yadamma, the boy’s mother, had been admitted to the hospital for delivery.
Naga Raju cried out for milk on Thursday night. Suryakumar, his father, fed him and subsequently fell asleep. During the night, Naga Raju woke up, this time venturing out of the home in search of his mother.
Tragically, the toddler encountered a group of stray dogs outside his home and fell victim to their attack. Motorists passing by noticed the horrifying scene and intervened, chasing away the dogs. Unfortunately, by the time the child could be examined, it was too late, and he was pronounced dead on the spot.
Soon after, police rushed to the spot and found the lifeless body of Nagaraju. His body was shifted to Osmania Hospital for a thorough post-mortem.
Residents blamed municipal authorities for negligence. Expressing frustration, they asserted that today's unfortunate event unfolded due to the officials' inaction despite multiple complaints.
