'Vehicles found in violation will be seized and criminal cases will be registered against car owners. A fine of up to Rs.1000/- under various sections of the M.V. Act will be imposed for noncompliance with court instructions, city cops said.
The Hyderabad Traffic department found that several vehicles (both two and four wheelers) in Hyderabad do not follow the guidelines listed under the Motor Vehicles Act, especially with regard to number plates. 'In some cases, the size of the number plate is not in accordance with the prescribed, and many vehicle owners have tampered with the numbers and alphabets to avoid detection by Traffic Police and escape challans', cops said.
According to a Supreme Court Order, any material obstructing visibility - such as black screens, sun shades, or curtains is illegal. "No exemption shall be granted to anybody except for people falling under security categorization of Z and Z+ categories," the order read. The traffic police informed that special drives against Improper number plates are being conducted every year and a high number of car owners violate these guidelines.

Sun Shades and Curtains
It has also been observed that some of the car owners who have removed darker films are using lighter color films instead. It is hereby clarified that, as per the orders of the Supreme Court, no film of any VLT (Visual Light Transmission) is permitted on the windscreen and on the window glasses.
"Car decor and accessory shop owners will once again be called and warned about illegally fixing black films. Strict action will be taken against such shops as per City Police Act provisions. RTC buses, private and tourist buses, school buses with such films pasted on their window screens are instructed to get them removed immediately" cops said.
