Hyderabad: FIR filed against Twitter user for celebrating General Bipin Rawat's death
The police registered a case under Section 67 of the IT Act (publishing or transmitting obscene material in electronic form) and Section 506 of the IPC (criminal intimidation).

Neelam Bhargava Ram, a law student, had filed a complaint against Mustafa Riaz. He had said that the Twitter user from Hyderabad had made abusive comments about the accident that had killed Gen. Rawat. The post attempts to create an atmosphere of fear and hatred, Bhargava Ram had said.
Bhargava Ram in his complaint had added that such unlawful activities provoke violence and may impose a threat to the law and order situation.
After the Hyderabad police's official Twitter account received several complaints about the derogatory posts, the city police responded and tagged the cybercrime police, and asked them to look into it. Meanwhile, Mustafa Raiz had changed his Twitter user name to Anshul Saxena.

Speaking to NewsMeter, Bhargava Ram said the police have registered an FIR but have not taken any action. "When anyone from the ruling party files a complaint about a social media post, the police take action immediately and even arrest the person. But when the Opposition party files a complaint, the police take action slowly. I am requesting the police to at least identify the person and send a notice under Section 41 of the CrPC," he said.
