Hyderabad: A routine inspection conducted by the Food Safety Department has revealed serious violations at two food and beverage manufacturing units in the Medchal-Malkajgiri district.

The inspection was conducted on April 22.

S.R. Enterprises in Chengicherla and Sri Sai Ganesh Enterprises in Bolligudem, Boduppal, were found in breach of several food safety norms, prompting regulatory action under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.

Multiple Deficiencies Found at S.R. Enterprises

S.R. Enterprises, located in Chengicherla, was found to be operating with multiple hygiene and documentation lapses. Key observations from the inspection include:

Pest control records were not maintained.

Medical fitness certificates for workers were present but undated.

The internal quality control laboratory was non-functional, and external laboratory records were missing.

The manufacturing floor was found to be slippery with visible water stagnation.

Doors lacked proper insect-proof screens and were not tightly fitted.

A lizard was discovered in the filtration room near a water tank.

Gaps between walls and stock were not maintained.

Food handlers were seen working without headcaps, gloves, or aprons.

Bottle cap sealing was carried out in unhygienic conditions without gloves.

The vehicles did not have a valid FSSAI license.

Serious Violations at Sri Sai Ganesh Enterprises

Sri Sai Ganesh Enterprises, a manufacturer of packaged drinking water and milk product khoa, was also found to violate critical food safety standards:

Pest control documentation, medical fitness certificates, and FoSTaC training certificates were not available.

Both internal and external water quality analysis reports were missing.

Doors were kept open without insect-proof screening.

Packaged drinking water bottles of the brand ā€˜Kenbey’ were found bearing an expired license.

A total of 31 cartons of unlabelled water bottles (2L and 250ml) were seized.

Food handlers were observed without the necessary protective gear.

The laboratory at the facility was non-functional.

The khoa production area was noted as highly unhygienic, with houseflies present.

Transport vehicles were operating without a valid FSSAI license.

38 kilograms of unlabelled ā€˜Ajmer Kalakand’ were found and discarded.

Samples Collected, Licenses to Be Suspended

The Food Safety Department confirmed that samples have been collected from both sites and sent for laboratory analysis. The department has announced that the licenses of both establishments will be suspended under the relevant provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.

Authorities emphasized that food safety compliance is non-negotiable and that such inspections will continue in the district to ensure public health standards are maintained.
