Hyderabad: Four held for duping people with fake double bedroom house scheme

Hyderabad: Four persons were arrested for cheating people out of huge amounts after promising to provide government double-bedroom houses across the city.

The sleuths of Commissioner’s Task Force, South Zone Team here, along with Chatrinaka Police, arrested M Jyothi (49) and P Sunil Singh (43), who are social workers. G Ramesh (43) and L Nitin Kumar (23) were also arrested for their alleged involvement in the crime.

The police seized Rs 1 lakh from the group, rubber stamps of revenue offices of various districts and fake allotment papers. The prime accused, Jyothi, has been involved in crimes of such nature.

The accused used to do ‘fake follow-ups’ to government offices with victims

Jyothi and Sunil Singh, residents of Chatrinaka, are social workers helping the general public obtain caste certificates, income certificates, birth and death certificates, etc.

By taking advantage of the rapport they have with many, they hatched a plan to cheat them in the name of providing double bed room houses in Hyderabad and its surrounding areas. To fulfil their plan, they employed Ramesh to arrange the applicants and Nitin Kumar for office work and to collect Aadhaar cards, family group photos and other relating documents.

Further, Jyothi and Sunil Singh started collecting applications by charging Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000 for each candidate. Jyothi and Sunil Singh used to take them to the government offices as a ‘fake follow-up’ with the government offices.

Accused collected applications for 2 years

The police said that the accused had been collecting applications for two years. When the applicants started pressuring the accused persons for the allotments, Jyothi and Sunil Singh created a paper showing fake allotment titled ‘Housing Unit Under 2BHK Dignity Housing’. They pretended to make the paper official by forging credentials of Govt of Telangana, chief reception officer and revenue division officers of Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy and Sanga Reddy districts. The fake allotment orders for the double bed room houses were given to the applicants at Hi-Tech City, Tatti Annaram and Kollure, etc.,

Public advisory

The Government of Telangana has taken the initiative for the allotment of housing units under 2BHK dignity housing and is allotting the same to the genuine people. The government requested the general public not to believe in brokers/mediates.
