Hyderabad: Food Safety Task Force (FSTF) conducted surprise inspections at several food outlets in the Gachibowli area.

Focusing on eateries located near DLF Gates No. 2 and No. 3, the inspections uncovered a wide range of hygiene and regulatory violations at three popular outlets: Sip and Snack, Bismi Maggi and Juice Centre, and Milan Juice Centre.

Sip and Snack, DLF Gate No. 3, Gachibowli

Key observations made by the task force include:

ā€¢ The FSSAI license was not available with the Food Business Operator (FBO).

ā€¢ Food articles stored in the refrigerator were uncovered.

ā€¢ Several fruits, such as sapotas and oranges, were found to be spoiled and were discarded on-site.

ā€¢ The dustbin was left uncovered, contributing to poor sanitation.

ā€¢ A housefly infestation was observed within the premises.

ā€¢ Flooring was littered with food waste, indicating a lack of proper cleaning practices.

Bismi Maggi and Juice Centre, DLF Gate No. 2, Gachibowli

At this outlet, multiple lapses in food safety and hygiene were recorded:

ā€¢ The FSSAI Registration was not displayed prominently on the premises.

ā€¢ Uncovered food articles were found in the refrigerator.

ā€¢ Critical records were missing, including:

ā€¢ Pest control records

ā€¢ Employee health records

ā€¢ Water analysis reports

ā€¢ Fruits such as peeled pomegranates were found spoiled and discarded.

ā€¢ Uncovered dustbins were observed.

ā€¢ There was a live cockroach and housefly infestation.

ā€¢ Rodents were spotted during the inspection.

ā€¢ Employees were not wearing protective gear such as headgear and aprons.

ā€¢ Littering of food waste was seen on both the floor and inside the refrigerator.

Milan Juice Centre, DLF Gate No. 2, Gachibowli

This outlet showed the highest number of violations, as detailed below:

ā€¢ Food items in the refrigerator were uncovered and unlabelled.

ā€¢ Food waste was littered on the floor.

ā€¢ Dustbins were uncovered, raising sanitation concerns.

ā€¢ Food handlers were not wearing gloves or aprons.

ā€¢ Both housefly and cockroach infestations were recorded.

ā€¢ Several fruits such as apples, black grapes, mangoes, and peeled pomegranates were spoiled and discarded.

ā€¢ Critical documentation including:

ā€¢ Water analysis report

ā€¢ Employee health records

ā€¢ Pest control records Was not avaliable

ā€¢ The refrigerators were found in an unhygienic condition.

ā€¢ Contaminated food items like chutney infested with cockroaches were found and discarded.

ā€¢ Expired products discovered and discarded include:

ā€¢ Banana Crush ā€“ expired on 21.02.2025

ā€¢ Strawberry Flavour Syrup ā€“ expired on 17.03.2025

ā€¢ Passion Fruit Syrup ā€“ expired on 31.01.2025

Action and Response

These inspections aim to ensure compliance with food safety regulations and protect consumer health. Appropriate notices will be issued to the outlets, and follow-up checks will be conducted to verify corrective measures.

The department also advised food business operators to maintain hygiene, ensure valid documentation, and follow food safety protocols.

Consumers are encouraged to remain vigilant while dining out and to report any unhygienic practices to the Food Safety Department through official helplines or digital portals. Repeated non-compliance by food businesses can lead to penalties, suspension of licenses, or legal action under the FSSAI Act.
