Hyderabad: This Ganesh Chaturthi festival season, laddu auctions in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad have reached a record high, with several citing a significant increase in the winning bids.
On top of the charts currently, is the laddu offered to Lord Ganesh being claimed for an astounding Rs 1.87 crores by Keerthi Richmond Villas in Bandlaguda on Monday night. Compared to the previous year, when the laddu was auctioned for Rs 1.26 crores, this represents an increase of Rs 61 lakhs. The festival organisers have not disclosed the buyerās identity.
Kapil Dev commends efforts of RV Diya Charitable Trust
In a video statement released on Tuesday, veteran cricketer Kapil Dev commended the efforts of RV Diya Charitable Trust for conducting the laddu auction and selling it for a whopping Rs 1.87 crores.

Proceeds to be used for paying school fees
RV Diya Charitable Trust is a unique residential community-led charity group with a remarkable history of supporting leading NGOs in their day-to-day operations.
Rahul, who stays in the Keerthi Richmond Villas told NewsMeter, āThis is an NGO which pays for all of our maids and drivers kids school fees and this amount is a contribution by all villa people, for hype etc we do these Rs 1.87 crores and all but basically we all pool money and pay school fee of maids and drivers kids.ā
Balapur laddu auctioned for a record Rs 30 lakhs
At the open auction on Tuesday, the most popular auction, the Balapur Ganesh Laddu, sold for the highest amount in the previous three decades, setting a new record of Rs 30.01 lakhs. Since 1994, the auction has been organised by the Samithi.
BJP leader Kolan Shanker Reddy won the renowned 21-kg laddu in the auction. The Balapur Ganesh Utsav Committee (BGUS) received the auction proceeds immediately. Compared to the last auction that took place in 2023, this is Rs 3 lakhs higher.

For Rs 27 lakhs, Dasari Dayanand Reddy, a resident of Turkyayamjal village purchased the laddu at the auction held last year. Four people registered to take part in the laddu auction, several of whom were outsiders who paid an advance of Rs 27 lakhs.
Many farmers still reside in Balapur, a farming town on the outskirts of southern Hyderabad. To improve the well-being of the property owners and occupants, the belief is not to consume the laddu but rather to sprinkle the offering throughout the farmersā properties and farmlands, according to the BGUS members.
The proceeds from the auction would go towards welfare initiatives, particularly those related to education, as well as temple and village improvements, the BGUS members added.
Ganesh laddu auctioned for Rs 29 lakhs in My Home Bhooja
There was fierce rivalry for the Ganesh laddu auction at one of Hyderabadās most opulent gated neighbourhoods. At My Home Bhooja, close to Gachibowli, the Ganesh laddu was auctioned off for an astounding Rs 29 lakhs.
The laddu was purchased for an incredible Rs 29 lakhs by Kondapalli Ganesh, a resident of My Home Bhooja from the Khammam district, who made the highest bid.
