Hyderabad: The recent spell of rain in Hyderabad on Friday has provided temporary relief from the scorching heat, but temperatures are still expected to remain high. Maximum temperatures could reach up to 37Ā°C during the day, with humidity levels fluctuating due to changing weather conditions.

Despite the showers, summer conditions persist, and residents are advised to take precautions against heat-related illnesses.

Thunderstorms and hail hit parts of the city

After days of sweltering heat, Hyderabad witnessed sudden thunderstorms and hailstorms on Friday night and early Saturday.

The rain brought much-needed respite to residents, with heavy downpours reported in areas like the University of Hyderabad, Kukatpally, and Serilingampally. Some parts of the city even experienced hail, surprising many.

More rain expected in the coming days

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Hyderabad is likely to see more light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms over the next few days. Weather officials have predicted increased cloud formation, with the possibility of strong winds and occasional hail in some areas.

ā€œWe are seeing a shift in wind patterns, which is leading to the formation of thunderstorms. Parts of Telangana, including Hyderabad, will likely experience rainfall until March 24,ā€ said K.S. Sridhar, IMD meteorologist, speaking to Newsmeter.

Precautions for residents

While the rainfall provides relief, authorities advise residents to stay indoors during thunderstorms, avoid open areas during lightning, and secure loose objects that could be affected by strong winds. Those traveling should check weather updates before heading out, as sudden showers could lead to traffic congestion and waterlogging in some areas.

With temperatures still remaining high, weather experts recommend staying hydrated and taking necessary precautions as summer conditions continue.
