Hyderabad: GHMC deputy director arrested for taking Rs 2.2 lakh for clearing bills
Hyderabad: Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials caught GHMC deputy director, Urban Biodiversity, Serilingampally Zone (Charminar Zone) Vipperla Srinivas, when he demanded Rs 2.2 lakh as a bribe for showing official favour.
He was taking Rs 70,000 from the complainant at the time of the arrest. The accused officer demanded the bribe as a reward for clearing the check-measured bills for the complainantās supply of plant material to the Urban Biodiversity Wing, GHMC, Charminar Zone.
Srinivas had already accepted Rs 1,50,000 as a bribe from the complainant. The accused officer thereby performed his public duty improperly and dishonestly.
The bribe amount was recovered from him at his instance. The right hand fingers of Srinivas yielded positive in a chemical test.
Srinivas was arrested and produced before the Principal Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases, Court at Nampally, Hyderabad.
The case is under investigation, according to a press release issued by the ACB.
