Hyderabad: Stepping up the crackdown on food adulteration, the GHMC Task Force, along with local police, raided a dairy unit in Amberpet on Thursday and seized around 2,500 kilograms of suspected contaminated curd.
Raid on Dairy Unit
The raid was conducted at NNR Enterprises, located in Rahatnagar, Amberpet, following credible information that adulterated curd was being manufactured and sold from the premises.
According to officials, the business is run by Nare and Raghavendra, who have been operating a milk and dairy products trade in the locality for the past six months.
Acting on the tip-off, GHMC Task Force officials, in coordination with Amberpet police, conducted a surprise inspection at the unit.
2,500 kg Curd Seized
During the raid, officials discovered about 2,500 kg of suspected adulterated curd stored at the premises. Authorities believe the curd was being prepared and supplied to nearby areas.
Food samples were collected from the seized stock and sent to a laboratory for detailed analysis to determine whether the product was adulterated.
Case Registered
Based on a complaint lodged by GHMC Task Force officials, Amberpet police registered a case and launched an investigation into the illegal activity.
Officials said further action will be taken against those responsible after receiving the laboratory test results.
Background: Crackdown on Adulterated Food
The seizure comes amid a series of raids carried out by Hyderabad Task Force teams and civic authorities against adulterated food products across the city in recent months.
Authorities have intensified inspections at dairy units, food processing centres, restaurants, and godowns after several cases of fake, expired, or adulterated food items surfaced.
During these drives, officials have seized adulterated spices, cooking oils, dairy products, and other food items, besides booking those involved in manufacturing and distributing unsafe food products.
Officials said the special enforcement drives will continue to ensure that food products sold in the city meet safety standards and to protect public health.
