Hyderabad: Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) has launched an online facility for issuing Water Feasibility Certificates, a mandatory requirement for new building permissions under Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits.

The online service was formally launched at the Water Board Theme Park, Jubilee Hills, by HMWSSB managing director Ashok Reddy and ED Mayank Mittal.

Why is the certificate needed?

Anyone planning to construct a new building in Greater Hyderabad must obtain permission from GHMC.

Along with the electricity feasibility certificate, a Water Feasibility Certificate issued by HMWSSB is compulsory.

Until now, applicants had to approach Circle Offices or the Head Office at Khairatabad, which often led to delays.

With the new system, the entire process has been simplified and shifted online.

How to apply online

Application

Apply through the HMWSSB website using the link “Apply Online for Water Feasibility Certificate.”

A file number is generated instantly after submission.

Uploading documents

Upload all required documents during the application.

Submit the original indemnity bond to the department for records.

Processing fee

Pay a processing fee of Rs 5,000 either online or at the Water Board cash counter.

Verification & Approval process

Field Study

The file is sent to the concerned CGM.

Details are updated on the system and mobile app with a checklist.

CGM review

Once feasibility is checked, the Chief General Manager (CGM) forwards the file with recommendations (if required).

Committee scrutiny

A weekly committee meeting, comprising the Executive Director/Director (Revenue) and CGM (Revenue), reviews and approves the files.

Approval orders

After approval, the CGM (Revenue) prepares an estimate of feasibility charges.

Final steps for applicants

Charges payment

Applicants receive an SMS notification with charge details.

Payment must be made within 30 days (online or at the cash counter).

Certificate generation

After payment, the CGM (Revenue) issues the digitally signed Water Feasibility Certificate.

Applicants are notified via SMS once the certificate is ready.
