Hyderabad: Home guard-turned-Rapido rider, youth killed in Banjara Hills tanker crash

Hyderabad: In a tragic road accident, a Home Guard working with the Santosh Nagar traffic police station and a young woman lost their lives after a water tanker rammed into their motorcycle near Vengal Rao Park on the NFCL side, Banjara Hills on Monday.

Victims identified
The deceased have been identified as Syed Hussain (40), a Home Guard (No. 6611) attached to the Traffic Police Station, Santosh Nagar, and Akshita (20), a resident of Vizianagaram district.
According to police, Syed Hussain was working part-time as a Rapido bike rider. While, Akshita had booked the bike as a Rapido customer.
How the accident occurred
Police said the duo were travelling on the motorcycle when a water tanker coming from behind allegedly rammed into the bike near Vengal Rao Park. Both riders sustained severe injuries in the collision.
They were immediately shifted to NIMS Hospital for treatment. However, despite medical efforts, both succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment.


Bodies kept at NIMS
The bodies of the deceased are currently kept at NIMS Hospital for post-mortem examination, police officials confirmed. A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
Family in deep mourning
Syed Hussain is survived by his wife and three children. The sudden demise has plunged his family into deep grief.
The incident has once again raised concerns over road safety and heavy vehicle movement within city limits.
