Hyderabad: HYDRAA boss Ranganath pats for nodal agency for electrical, fire safety
Hyderabad: HYDRAA Commissioner AV Ranganath has called upon the officials concerned to accord top priority to the safety of the people during emergencies.
He participated in a meeting held at his office on the topic of ``Electrical Safety in Buildings''. Speaking on the occasion, Ranganath said that to prevent accidents, all the systems intended for this purpose, such as electricity, fire, industry, etc., need to come together on one platform and work independently.
The HYDRAA Commissioner said that there is a need to raise awareness among everyone about the precautions to be taken, as more fire accidents occur due to errors in electricity usage. He suggested that a nodal agency should be formed with a team of experts from relevant departments to review whether all safety precautions have been taken.
Elaborating further, he said that it is necessary to check the electrical wiring, earthing, and whether quality electrical appliances are being used. This nodal agency should ensure that safety standards are followed not only in industries but also in apartments, offices, and residences.
Ranganath stated that the meeting was called to make efforts to prevent postmortems following the accident and proposed that HYDRAAās Disaster Response Force coordinate this effort. Later, the officials from various departments explained about the steps being taken regarding the security of industries, large buildings, and residential complexes.
