Hyderabad: HYDRAA launches enquiry into encroachment of park, crematorium in Sakkubai Layout at Shaikpet
Hyderabad: Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) has initiated a comprehensive investigation into alleged encroachments on public utility lands in Sakkubai Layout at Shaikpet, under the Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency, following a complaint received through Prajavani.
The layout, developed over 25 acres in Survey No. 327 under the banner of Sakkubai Nagar Mutually Aided Cooperative Society, has come under scrutiny after officials detected multiple violations during preliminary field verification.
Park, cremation ground, and Bulkapur nala encroached
HYDRAA officials found that apart from the designated park area, portions of a cremation ground and the historic Bulkapur Nala were also allegedly encroached upon.
The discovery widened the scope of the inquiry, prompting HYDRAA Commissioner AV Ranganath to order a detailed investigation into the remaining government land within the survey number.
Village officials allege Government Ownership
In a meeting held at the HYDRAA office here, representatives from Shaikhpet village, including Sadanandam and Ashok Kumar, claimed that the entire land parcel belongs to the government.
They informed the Commissioner that the area identified as a park has traditionally been used for temple festivities, and alleged that the society had even attempted to encroach upon the cremation ground.
Society asserts Legal Possession
Opposing the claims, Society Secretary Sitaramayya explained how the land was legally acquired by the cooperative society and urged HYDRAA to protect the officially approved park as per the layout plan.
Commissioner seeks documents, orders field verification
After hearing both sides and reviewing preliminary records, Commissioner AV Ranganath directed officials to carry out a deeper field-level inspection with inputs from all relevant departments.
He instructed that all related documents be thoroughly verified and asked both parties to submit complete records to establish ownership and land use.
The Commissioner also assured that a joint review meeting with all concerned departments would be convened after verification.
No further construction on Public Utility Lands
Stressing the need to safeguard public amenities, the Commissioner directed that no further construction should be allowed on public utility lands in the disputed area until the inquiry is completed.
The meeting was attended by Jubilee Hills MLA Naveen Yadav, BRS leader Maganti Sunitha, local residents, and representatives of various organisations.
