Hyderabad: HYDRAA reclaims 3,000 sq yards of park land worth Rs 60 crore at Narsingi

Hyderabad: In a major crackdown on land encroachments, HYDRAA on Monday reclaimed and secured 3,000 square yards of prime park land worth nearly Rs 60 crore at Narsingi Chowrasta in Gandipet mandal.

The land, located in Arunodaya Housing Society near the Narsingi Sub-Registrar Office, was officially earmarked as park space in a HUDA-approved layout but had been under sustained encroachment for several years.

Park land under encroachment

As per official records, a total of 6,078 square yards was reserved for a public park in the approved layout. However, illegal constructions had already come up on nearly 3,000 square yards of this land.

The remaining portion too came under threat when a local individual encroached upon around 1,600 square yards, erecting precast boundary walls and temporary sheds.

Earlier, officials of the Narsingi Municipality had removed these illegal structures.

However, the encroachments resurfaced after the municipality was merged with the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) with the accused once again taking control of the land and fencing it off.

Complaint triggers action

Alarmed by the repeated land-grabbing attempts, local residents approached HYDRAA through the Prajavani grievance platform, detailing the history of encroachment and misuse of the park land.

Acting on the complaint, HYDRAA Commissioner AV Ranganath directed a joint field inspection by HYDRAA officials along with revenue and municipal authorities. The inspection confirmed that the disputed land was officially designated as park space.

Fencing and boards installed

Following verification, HYDRAA on Monday secured the remaining 3,000 square yards by clearly demarcating the boundaries and erecting protective fencing around the park area.

HYDRAA signboards were also installed, declaring the land as reserved park property and warning against future encroachments.

Officials stated that the action was taken to protect public assets and ensure that designated open spaces are preserved for community use.
