Hyderabad: HYDRAA reclaims Rs 5 crore worth parkland from encroachers at Indus Valley-2 in Ameenpur

Hyderabad: Bringing relief to residents after years of uncertainty, the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) has reclaimed a designated park site at Indus Valley-2 in Ameenpur village of Sangareddy district by removing encroachments and fencing the land.

According to residents, the current market value of the reclaimed parkland is estimated at around Rs 5 crore, underlining the significance of preserving public amenities amid rapid urban expansion.

Park space approved in original layout

The Indus Valley layout was developed in 2005 by Apex Properties over an extent of 2.27 acres in Survey Nos. 1019 and 1020 (part) at Ameenpur village, Ameenpur mandal. The approved plan comprised 24 residential plots.

As per the sanctioned layout, an area of 672 square yards was specifically earmarked for a public park, meant for the use of residents.

Gift deed triggered controversy

Trouble arose in 2013 when the landowner allegedly executed a gift deed in favour of a relative for the land reserved as park space. Residents objected, stating that the land could not be transferred as it was meant for public use under the approved layout.

Complaint to HYDRAA, field inquiry conducted

After prolonged efforts, residents of Indus Valley-2 approached HYDRAA seeking protection of the parkland. HYDRAA conducted a field-level inspection in coordination with officials from the revenue and municipal departments.

The inquiry confirmed that the disputed land was indeed earmarked as a park in the original layout approval.

Encroachments cleared, fencing installed

Following the verification, HYDRA cleared all encroachments, fenced the entire 672-square-yard park area, and installed official HYDRAA boards to prevent future violations.

Residents express relief

Welcoming the action, residents said they had been fighting for the protection of the park for nearly a decade. They credited HYDRAA’s timely intervention for safeguarding the public open space.
