Hyderabad: Illegal pickle manufacturing unit busted in Jiyaguda; 2 held

Hyderabad: Police on Wednesday busted an illegal pickle manufacturing unit in Jiyaguda and arrested two persons for selling adulterated food items.
Unhygienic unit unearthed during patrolling
Sub-Inspector M. Narsimha and his team carried out the operation during routine patrolling in the Jiyaguda area.
The police inspected a godown located at Venkateshwara Nagar and found a large-scale pickle manufacturing setup operating under extremely unhygienic conditions.
Officials said the accused were using spoiled vegetables and low-grade raw materials to prepare pickles, which were then supplied to local shops at lower prices, posing a serious health risk to consumers.
Large quantity of adulterated stock seized
During the raid, police seized:
72 drums of pickles, including lemon, red chilli, raw tamarind, amla, and sorrel varieties
6 drums of tomato and tamarind paste
1 small drum of ginger-garlic paste
1 weighing machine
Accused Identified
The arrested individuals have been identified as:
N. Narsimha (54), a resident of Jiyaguda
N. Naresh (45), a resident of Jiyaguda
Both were allegedly running the illegal unit and distributing the products in nearby areas.
Case registered, investigation on
A case has been registered at Kulsumpura Police Station under Sections 318(4), 274, and 275 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Police said further investigation is underway to identify the distribution network and other possible links.
Public advisory issued
Police have urged the public to remain cautious while purchasing food items, especially those sold at unusually low prices or without proper certification, as they may pose serious health hazards.
