The 25-year-old was riding a scooty with her mother when Kishore chased them on his bike. Kishore attacked her with chili powder. When the mother-daughter duo fell off the two-wheeler, he tried to slit woman's throat with a knife.
She attempted to escape, but her helmet hindered her. Fortunately, some alert locals, including an auto driver and some youths, managed to intercept Kishore and apprehend him before he could cause further harm. She was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she received initial treatment before being shifted to Gandhi Hospital.
Sanjeeva Reddy Nagar police station inspector K. Saidulu said Lakshmi and Kishore had known each other for the past seven years. Kishore used to run a fast food center in Borabanda, and the woman used to work for him.
āHowever, Kishore became increasingly resentful of the woman after she began working at Novatel Housekeeping in Madhapur and refused his advances. Recently, her parents had arranged her marriage to someone else, which further angered Kishore,ā he said.
Kishore has been detained by the police, and an investigation is underway. Inspector Saidulu has confirmed that a case has been registered in this regard. The victim is said to be out of danger according to doctors.
Local community and police praised Rao Ji Naik, Shankar Naik, Maruti, Mohammed, and others who apprehended Kishore. The victim, who had been in grave danger, was immediately taken to the hospital for treatment.
She later stated that had brave young men not come to her rescue, she might not have survived the attack.
