Hyderabad: Cyberabad police have arrested KP Chowdary, producer of 'Kabali', in connection with a drug case on Tuesday

On credible information, a raid was conducted by the Special Operations Team (SOT) Madhapur, and Rajendranagar police at his residence in Kismatpur near Rajendranagar, while he was attempting to sell cocaine.

Law enforcement authorities seized 90 sachets of cocaine, amounting to a total weight of 82.75 grams, Rs 2,05,000 cash, 1 four wheeler, and 4 mobile phones, all worth Rs. 78,50,000.






According to Deputy Commissioner of Police, Jagadishwar Reddy, the accused Chowdary hailing from Bonakal Mandal in the Khammam district, Chowdary completed his B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering and subsequently served as the Director of Operations at the Indian Institute of Aeronautical Engineering and Technology in Pune, Maharashtra.

In 2016, he ventured into the film industry, producing the Telugu version of Kabali. Although he also worked as a distributor for two Telugu films, namely Sardar Gabbarsingh and Seetamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu, as well as a Tamil film called Kanitan (Arjun Suravaram), he did not achieve the expected profits. Throughout this period, he established strong connections with celebrities within the film industry.

Following his business setbacks, Chowdary relocated to Goa, where he founded OHM Club. He then developed associations with friends and visiting celebrities from Hyderabad, who regularly visited his club in Goa.

"Due to financial losses, he returned to Hyderabad in April 2023. Prior to his arrival in the city, he acquired 100 sachets of cocaine from a Nigerian individual named Petit Ebuzer, also known as Gabrial, who is currently evading arrest in an NDPS case registered under Crime Number 428/2023 at Raidurgam Police Station. Out of the 100 sachets obtained, Chowdary kept 10 for his personal use and distributed the rest among his acquaintances," said the police.

A case has been registered in Rajendra nagar police station U/s 21(b) R/w 8(C) of N.D.P.S Act-1985.
