Hyderabad: Putting an end to chronic parking troubles for commuters, Hyderabad on Saturday inaugurated a fully automated multi-level parking facility at the busy Nampally Junction, providing motorists with hassle-free, space-efficient and traffic-friendly parking in a long-congested area.
The automated parking facility was inaugurated by Hyderabad In-charge Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, who said the project was aimed at offering direct relief to the public from roadside parking and traffic bottlenecks.
He reviewed the system’s functioning and interacted with officials to understand its operational features.
Model for future projects
Stating that Hyderabad’s traffic challenges require innovative solutions, Ponnam Prabhakar said similar automated parking facilities would be encouraged in other high-density areas of the city to improve urban mobility and commuter convenience.
Advanced technology, no human intervention
Built with advanced German technology, the facility is the first fully automated multi-level parking system of its kind in the country. Vehicles can be parked and retrieved without human involvement, ensuring smooth movement and reducing waiting time.
Drivers only need to place their vehicle on a turntable, switch off the engine and step out. By swiping a smart card, the system automatically parks the vehicle and later delivers it back to the user at the exit point.
Capacity and Public Utility
The parking complex has the capacity to accommodate 200 cars and 200 two-wheelers, making it a major convenience for daily commuters, shoppers and office-goers in the Nampally area.
Separate entry and exit systems ensure that incoming and outgoing vehicles do not obstruct each other. Officials said the facility would significantly reduce illegal roadside parking and improve traffic flow at the Nampally traffic junction.
