Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Literary Festival (HLF) 2025 is set to bring together literature enthusiasts, cultural aficionados and art lovers for three days of engaging discussions and activities.

Scheduled from January 24 to 26, the event will take place at Sattva Knowledge City, Hitec City, Hyderabad. This annual multilingual festival aims to provide a platform for diverse voices and ideas.

Key themes and activities

HLF 2025 will focus on a range of topics, including literature, storytelling, climate change, science, indigenous languages and culture. The festival will feature segments like Kaavya Dhaara, Youngistaan Nukkad, Nanha Nukkad, workshops, exhibitions and the interactive session Meet My Book.

Festival director Amita Desai stated, ā€œHLF continues to foster a spirit of dialogue and creativity, showcasing voices from diverse disciplines and backgrounds.ā€

Plenary sessions and featured speakers

Prominent personalities from various fields will grace the event. Some of the key sessions include:

1. A Life in Cinema: Veteran actor Shabana Azmi will discuss her cinematic journey with Amita Desai during the inaugural plenary session.

2. Viewfinder: A Memoir: Actor Amol Palekar and his wife, Sandhya Gokhale, will share their experiences with filmmaker Mohana Krishna Indraganti.

3. Zeba: An Accidental Superhero: Actor Huma Qureshi will talk about her book with writer Kinnera Murthy.

4. Love Jihad and Other Fictions: Senior journalists Sreenivasan Jain and Mariyam Alavi will address viral falsehoods in a discussion moderated by festival representatives.

5. The Election that Surprised India: Journalist Rajdeep Sardesai will analyse unexpected political outcomes with academic Sunita Reddy.

6. Just a Mercenary? Notes from My Life and Career: Former RBI Governor Duvvuri Subbarao will share insights from his memoir with writer Suchitra Shenoy.

Conclusion and valedictory session

The festival will conclude with the Ajay Gandhi Memorial Valedictory Session on the theme 'Values of the Indian Constitution', featuring social activist Harsh Mander and historian Rajmohan Gandhi.
