Hyderabad: Man arrested for flaunting air rifle in open jeep at Banjara Hills

Hyderabad: Police have arrested a 21-year-old man for carrying an air rifle and driving an open jeep near the Sarvi Hotel at Road No. 1, Banjara Hills.

The issue came to light when a video of the accused identified as Afeezuddin surfaced on social media. Based on these contents a case has been registered in Banjara Hills police station, following a complaint given by police constable K Srikanth.

In his complaint, Srikanth said that he received an Instagram video link. It showed some miscreants in the age group of 20 to 22 years on board an open-top Jeep without a number plate. They were driving the vehicle in a rash and negligent manner.

In the jeep, one of the persons showcasing the firearm, by breaking the Arms Act and rules, they were creating public nuisance, thereby terrifying the public and creating fear of the public passing on the road, the police said.

Based on the details, the police arrested Afeezuddin, a resident of Sanath Nagar, along with the Jeep Driver and seized the firearm (air rifle ), which was involved in the crime. The accused is a videographer by profession, and he uses the air rifle in creating reels on social media.

The accused used the same air rifle and created a reel showing he is traveling in an open-top jeep on Road no 1 at night. It is against the law and attracts Arms Act. Police have 𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗱 the general public 𝘁𝗼 desist from 𝘀𝘂𝗰𝗵 illegal 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀.
