Hyderabad: A man posing as a police officer robbed a Swiggy delivery boy of his bike at SR Nagar.
K. Nikhil, 21, had recently moved to Hyderabad from Nizamabad and started working as a delivery boy for Swiggy. He had been using the Swiggy Instamart as a resting place between deliveries.
On Sunday morning, Nikhil discovered that his mobile phone was missing. While contemplating his next step, he parked his bike at the Maitrivanam bus stop. Around 8:15 am, an unknown individual approached him and inquired about his distress. Nikhil explained that he had lost his phone. The stranger claimed to be a police officer from the SR Nagar Police Station and suggested that they go to the station to file a complaint.
Nikhil agreed, and they both headed to the police station on Nikhil's bike. Upon arrival, the supposed officer pointed to some police officers standing in the cellar and mentioned that he was late and might get scolded. He then claimed he needed to fetch his writer from the SR Nagar Metro station and left on Nikhil's bike.
Suspicious of the situation, Nikhil followed the man by taking a lift from a nearby biker. He trailed the impersonator to a petrol pump near the SR Nagar Metro station, where the man vanished along with Nikhil's bike. Despite waiting for his return, the imposter never came back.
A case has been registered in Sanjeeva Reddy Nagar police station based on the complaint given by Nikhil under section 318(4), 303(2) of BNS and is currently under investigation.
