Hyderabad: Ten workers were injured when a massive explosion rocked the scrap yard at Gagan Pahad in Hyderabad. According to Inspector Srinivas of RGI airport police station, the explosion occurred at SS Enterprises near OKR Bridge in Gagan Pahad in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The explosion triggered a fire in the godown. There were expired medicines, cosmetics, and other chemical bottles stored in the facility. There were 10 workers on-site at the time of the explosion All of whom suffered burns and were quickly taken to Osmania Hospital for treatment.
The workers have been identified as Saddam, age 30; Sahil, age 20; Rayal, age 25; Aftab, age 25; Islam, age 28; Kamil, age 22; Mama, age 25; Pratab Singh, age 40; Arman, age 18; and Hasin, age 18. All of them hail from Uttar Pradesh.
Police have registered a case. Preliminary investigation reveals that scrap shop owner Sohail had failed to take the necessary precautions for workers despite being aware of the dangers posed by storing expired medicines and chemicals.
