Hyderabad Metro Rail announces 10% discount on newly revised fares

Hyderabad: In a welcome move for city commuters, L&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad) Limited (L&TMRHL) has announced a 10 per cent discount on its newly revised fare structure, which will come into effect across all three metro corridors starting May 24.

It may be recalled here that, the fares of Hyderabad metro rail were increased on May 17 for the first-ever time since operations began in 2017. The minimum fare has been raised from Rs 10 to Rs 25 and the maximum from Rs 60 to Rs 75, marking an increase of up to 25 per cent.

The fare revision, recommended by the Fare Fixation Committee (FFC), was introduced as part of a larger effort to ensure the long-term sustainability of metro operations and maintenance. However, in a gesture aimed at easing the transition for passengers, the metro operator has opted to offer a flat 10 per cent concession on the updated fares.

“We understand the need to balance sustainability with affordability,” said KVB Reddy, managing director and CEO of L&TMRHL. “While the fare revision was necessary to support ongoing operations, we have also listened to our passengers’ concerns. This 10 per cent discount reflects our commitment to providing cost-effective, efficient urban mobility solutions.”
