Hyderabad Metro Rail: JBS and MGBS will run from 6 am to 11 pm

Hyderabad: The metro train services on Corridor-II between JBS and MGBS will operate as per the original schedule, from 6 am to 11 pm starting July 13.

ā€œFollowing the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporationā€™s (GHMC) substantial completion of flyover crossing the metro corridor at RTC Crossroads, L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad Limited states that beginning July 13 metro train services on Corridor-II between JBS and MGBS will operate as per the original schedule, from 6 am to 11 pm,ā€ said the L&TMRHL spokesperson in a statement.

A temporary adjustment to the program was made in June. As per GHMCā€™s request, L&T stated that metro train services between Jubilee Bus Station (JBS) and Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station (MGBS) will operate on a revised timetable beginning June 30 and ending July 16.

The adjustment caused a 30-minute delay in the start of the morning metro service. According to an L&T news statement, this temporary modification was required owing to the building of a flyover across the metro route near RTC Crossroads.

This adjusted timetable was in force for around two weeks, allowing construction activities to proceed without interfering with metro operations. The 14.78-km JBS-Falaknuma Metro route includes the JBS-MGBS segment. Since its completion, the 11-km section has improved the connection between Secunderabad and Hyderabad.

Currently, the overall daily ridership across the network of 56 metro stations is roughly 4.50 lakh.

Proposals for Airport Metro

The proposals for the Rs 5,688 crore tender for the Airport Metroā€™s EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) contractor were launched on Thursday at the Metro Rail Bhavan. Two proposals have been submitted for the project, with major infrastructure corporations L&T Ltd and NCC Ltd (previously Nagarjuna Construction Company) competing.

According to Hyderabad Airport Metro Ltd (HAML) MD NVS Reddy, both companies have submitted voluminous documents highlighting their respective project execution experience, technical and financial strengths, audited financial statements, and so on, in addition to security deposits of Rs 29 crore each in the form of bank guarantees.

The bid documents contain massive amounts of detail about their eligibility qualification criteria, proposed deployment of skilled manpower, machinery, construction methodology, construction schedule, design basis reports of various civil structures and systems of the Airport Metro project, and so on. They will be scrutinised by GC (Systra-led General Consultants) experts and senior technical officers of HAML. Reddy noted that the evaluation and suggestions of HAML will be provided to the government once the bids were evaluated.
