Hyderabad Metro Rail offers 10% discount on new fares; check details

Hyderabad: Hyderabad Metro Rail has announced a 10 percent discount on the new fares.

The new fares will come into effect from May 24.

This follows the hue and cry by the passengers who commute every day on the metro rail.

10 percent discount

On May 23, L&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad) Limited announced a 10 percent discount on the fares.

“!0 percent discount applied to the percentage increase determined by the Fare Fixation Committee. This new discount policy will come into effect from May 24, 2025,” L&T said in a press note.

What are the changes?

The minimum fare of 2 kilometers was Rs 10, increased to Rs 12 on May 17th.

With a 10 percent discount, the minimum fare for 2 kilometers will now be Rs 11.

More than 24 kilometers, the fare was Rs 60, increased to Rs 75 on May 17th.

With a 10 percent discount, the fare is now Rs 69.

Office goers and college students

Hyderabad Metro Rail is mostly used by office goers, college students, business executives, and small time traders.

The increase in the prices was found to be steep for many of them who have adapted to this mode of travel.

“There were complaints to the government on the hike in prices by L&T Metro Rail, and the discount was used as a means to appease the travelers,” sources said.

Passengers complained to the metro rail officials at ticket counter on the steep rise in the prices and the discount was offered.

Passengers every day

Total number of metro riders in Hyderabad are 4.57 lakh. In some days, the number touches 5 lakh.

Connecting from L B Nagar to Miyapur, Old City to the financial district, the metro rail has become an easy travel mode for Hyderabad.
