Hyderabad Metro to operate till 1 am on 1 January
The last trains will leave the originating stations at 1 a.m. and reach their destinations at around 2 a.m. on 1 January.
By Newsmeter Network Published on 30 Dec 2022 10:36 AM GMTHyderabad: The Hyderabad metro will run till the early hours of Sunday (1 January), HMRL MD N.V.S Reddy announced on Friday. This is to ensure safe travel for New Year celebrations on the night of 31 December, he said.
The last trains will leave the originating stations at 1 a.m. and reach their destinations at around 2 a.m. on 1 January. Mr. Reddy also said the Metro Rail police and security wings will keep a close watch to ensure that there is no drunken misbehavior in the trains and stations.
Discussing the arrangements for safe travel during late hours, L&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad) Limited MD K.V.B Reddy appealed to the passengers to cooperate with the authorities and travel responsibly in metro trains without causing any untoward incidents.
Meanwhile, the Hyderabad traffic police has announced that all flyovers in the city will be closed for traffic on the intervening night of 31 December 2022 and 1 January 2023, except Begumpet and Langar House flyovers.
Buses, lorries and heavy vehicles will not be allowed in Hyderabad city limits till 2 a.m. on 1 January 2023.
