Hyderabad: Police carried out a search at LB Nagar Congress candidate Madhu Yashki's house in Vinayak Nagar, Hayatnagar on Tuesday night.
The election flying squad and police searched the house.
The search was prompted by a complaint alleging that Madhu Yashki had a substantial amount of cash in his house. It was also alleged that he was allegedly involved in distributing money.
An altercation ensued between Madhu Yashki and the police during the inspection, leading to a clash between his supporters and the police.
Madhu Yashki claimed that the police action was influenced by the BRS, accusing them of using the guise of a search to exert pressure. He stated his intention to file a complaint with the Election Commission against the police, questioning the legality of the search conducted without a warrant.
Madhu Yashki further alleged that the police, under the pretext of a midnight search, were intimidating his family members and party workers. He asserted that the police were acting on the orders of LB Nagar MLA Sudhir Reddy.
Congress leaders criticized the police action contending that Madhu Yashki's family members were being subjected to threats under the guise of an investigation.
Police, in their response, clarified that they initiated the search based on a complaint regarding money distribution reported to Dial 100. Following the inspection, no cash was found at Madhu Yashki's residence, and the police subsequently concluded their investigation.
