Hyderabad monsoon: Cyberabad police, HMDA chalk out plan to prevent accidents, ensure smooth traffic
Hyderabad: Cyberabad Traffic Police and the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) held a joint coordination meeting to strengthen traffic management and infrastructure readiness along key urban corridors, particularly the Outer Ring Road (ORR).
This comes at a time when the city is bracing for the monsoon.
The joint coordination meeting held at the Mini Conference Hall, Cyberabad Commissionerate was led by Dr Gajarao Bhupal, Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Cyberabad, and HMDA Commissioner and Managing Director of Hyderabad Growth Corridor Limited (HGCL), Sarfaraz Ahmad.
Top Priorities: Safety, Smooth Flow, and Monsoon-ready infrastructure
The session brought together key stakeholders from both departments to review existing road conditions, identify problem zones, and chart out a plan to ensure safer, smoother travel during the rains.
Highlights of the meeting included:
New Infrastructure Plans: Proposals to build underpasses, flyovers, and foot-over bridges at congested junctions to ease traffic flow and ensure pedestrian safety.
Choke Point Management: Identification of major traffic bottlenecks along the ORR, with instructions for on-site inspections and targeted management solutions.
Accident Prevention: Focus on reducing fatalities involving pedestrians and two-wheeler riders through dedicated lanes, service roads, and walkways.
Rectifying āBlack Spotsā: Urgent steps to identify and fix accident-prone areas on the ORR.
Tech-Driven Surveillance: Deployment of CCTV cameras at critical junctions, including TGPA, Narsingi rotaries, and PVNR Expressway to improve monitoring and enforcement.
Drainage & Road Repairs: Immediate attention to pending drainage works and damaged road sections to reduce waterlogging and enhance commuter convenience.
Cross-Agency Coordination: Decision to conduct regular follow-up meetings to track progress and ensure timely implementation of action plans.
This coordinated approach marks a significant step in ensuring Hyderabadās infrastructure is ready to handle seasonal challenges, with a strong emphasis on public safety, urban mobility, and inter-agency collaboration, said the Cyberabad Traffic Police and the HMDA officials.
