Hyderabad: National Commission for Women (NCW) has sought a report from Telangana DGP Anjani Kumar after an inebriated man assaulted two women in Balaji Nagar, Hyderabad.
The incident happened on August 6, when the accused Peddamariya (30), a resident of Jawahar Nagar, was walking near the Balaji Nagar bus stand with his mother. When he came across a woman exiting from a shop, he immediately confronted her and started harassing her.
Witnesses reported that Peddamariya was under the influence of alcohol and his actions towards the woman escalated rapidly as he began to touch her inappropriately.
He physically assaulted her, and even tore off her clothes. For about 15 minutes, the victim was left exposed and vulnerable on the road. She was repeatedly calling for help.
As the assault unfolded, another woman passing by on a bike confronted and questioned the man's actions. However, she too was assaulted. Shockingly, Peddamariya’s mother did not intervene to halt his aggressive behavior.
Strongly condemning the incident, NCW demanded a prompt investigation, medical support, and a detailed report within 7 days.
