Hyderabad: Pravitha Reddy, an advocate and one of the parents, has appealed to the Telangana government to take immediate action against Bhaskar Medical College for charging exorbitant fees from the students.
She addressed a letter to Telangana Health Minister C Damodar Rajanarasimha on behalf of the parents and explained the plight of the students at Bhaskar Medical College.
The major demands include halting the unauthorized fee practices enforced by the college, issuing a public notice ensuring that no student is denied exam access based on these unlawful fee demands, and conducting an investigation to address Bhaskar Medical Collegeās non-compliance with the TAFRC directive.
In her letter, the advocate mentioned that the college management is forcing students to pay exorbitant advance fees, amounting to Rs 23 lakh per year, six months before the commencement of the new academic year. This severe financial pressure is made worse by the college's refusal to allow students to write their exams unless the fees are paid immediately.
Elaborating further, she said, āThe college is illegally insisting on fee collection for five years, despite the mandated 4.5-year fee structure. This unjust extension in fee collection is a blatant violation of regulations and is placing an unbearable financial burden on students and their families. The KNR University and Telangana Admission and Fee Regulatory Committee (TAFRC) have yet to issue any corrective notice to the college, which has emboldened the administration to continue with its unlawful demands.ā
This lack of intervention is causing extreme distress among students and their families, and many are at risk of being unjustly held back in their academic pursuits. āWe appeal to you for swift and decisive action to protect the rights and futures of these students, as further delay will have irreversible consequences on their academic and career prospects,ā the advocate said.
