Hyderabad: Parents request SSC exam syllabus to be halved

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad School Parents Association (HSPA), on Saturday, has requested the state government changes to the conduct of SSC exams, which will be held from 17 May. It has asked the government to simplify the examination process by reducing the syllabus for the exam to 50 per cent instead of the 30 per cent as announced earlier.

They have also asked the government to provide study material in the form video lessons, exercises, and Q&As to the students.

"We request the government to arrange virtual classes and provide video recordings of important lessons to all the students. No student should be refused from writing the examinations due to non-payment of fees," said K. Venkat Sainath, joint secretary, HSPA.

The SSC examination will be conducted in Telangana from 17 May to 26 May. An academic calendar for 2020-21 of the school education department has been approved by the state government on Saturday. "Every child who is willing to write any exam shall be allowed to do so without insisting on minimum attendance and no such child will be withheld from writing the examinations on any grounds," read the academic calendar.

Schools, which will reopen for Classes IX and X on 1 February, will have 89 working days with the last working day on 26 May. Students will have a summer vacation from 27 May to 13 June.

The HSPA said that the government should issue strict guidelines and prescribe penal actions against schools that refuse students from writing examinations on any grounds.
