Hyderabad: Police have registered a case after a passenger hit a security supervisor with a chair when he objected to carrying liquor beyond the permissible limit at Prakash Nagar Metro Station in Hyderabad

According to the Begumpet police, the complainant, Prasanna Kumar, a 55-year-old Security Supervisor at Hyderabad Metro Rail, was on duty on Thursday from 3 PM to 11 PM when the incident occurred.

Around 6 p.m., a passenger carrying baggage approached the station's bag scanner. Security guard Md. Rafiq, responsible for monitoring the scanner, alerted Kumar that the baggage contained three sealed liquor bottles.

Adhering to metro administrator instructions that permit only two sealed liquor bottles, Kumar relayed this information to the passenger. This simple directive, however, quickly spiraled into a heated verbal altercation between the two. The passenger, who was identified as Vikram, expressed strong objection to the language used by Kumar during the interaction.

The altercation escalated further when Vikram physically assaulted Kumar using a PVC chair, causing a head injury and subsequent bleeding. The severity of the incident prompted immediate intervention from the station controller and other security guards present on the scene.

Vikram contacted two friends, Praveen and Sharath, who rushed to the scene. The arrival of these individuals added another layer of tension, as they engaged in further arguments and exchanged abusive language with Kumar.

Begumpet police rushed to the scene and controlled the situation. Subsequently, a case was registered against Vikram, Praveen, and Sharath under sections 332 and 504 r/w 34 of the Indian Penal Code at the Begumpet police station.
