Hyderabad: Pharmacy student, who falsely accused auto driver of rape, ends life

Hyderabad: A 19-year-old pharmacy student, who falsely accused an auto-rickshaw driver of an attempt to rape on February 10 ended her life in the early hours of Wednesday.

Rachakonda police are investigating the cause of suicide.

It may be recalled that an alleged abduction and rape of B.Pharmacy student turned out to be a cock-and-bull-story after cops nailed the lies of the girl who staged a drama to run away from home.

Rachakonda police cracked the sensational case within two hours after they received a complaint from her mother. Police said on February 10, Keesara Police received a call on the Dail-100 helpline from RL Nagar about the kidnap of a Pharma College Student by an Auto Driver. On receiving the information, Inspector of Police J.Narender Goud and Keesara Patrol teams rushed to the spot and met with the parents of the victim.

Preliminary information revealed that 19-year-old B. Pharmacy student alighted from college bus at Rampally X Road and boarded an auto-rickshaw with others at 5.40 pm. At around 6.01 pm, she called her mother to inform that the auto driver did not stop at RL Nagar and he was driving at high speed without caring about her cries.

Later her mobile came out of reach. After collecting primary information, cops alerted all the police stations and started vehicle checking.

Later they traced the girl near the isolated place at Bethel Church on Annojiguda service road. She was semi-dressed and visibly under shock. Police teams along with her relatives shifted her to nearby Cure Hospital, Jodimetla for medical care.

Based on the complainant, a case under section 365 IPC was registered in Keesara Police Station and an investigation was taken up.

After medical examination and recording of the victim's statement, appropriate sections of the law were added to the FIR.

Police said as the case grabbed headlines, Mahesh M Bhagwat, Commissioner of Police, Rachakonda Commissionerate, G. Sudheer Babu, Addl. Commissioner of Police, Rachakonda, Rakshitha Krishna Murthy, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Malkajgiri Zone, formed special teams comprising Law & Order police, SOT, IT, and SHE teams.

However, police observed a lot of discrepancies in the victim's statement during questioning. "She confessed that due to family issues she wanted to leave her house. Therefore she informed her mother. Later, due to police involvement, she panicked and out of fear weaved a false story," police said.

From scientific investigation, it was revealed that the victim dropped from the auto at the next stop. "She started walking in Ghatkesar Police Station limits. She again boarded an auto-rickshaw and got down at Annojiguda and walked some distance. The police team traced the Airtel tower location of the girl's mobile number and called her. She was asked to share her location which helped us to reach her. Due to some previous grudges against an auto driver, she has wrongly implicated him in the crime that never was," police said.
