Hyderabad Police: Beware of fake real estate advice on YouTube channels
The accused is said to have cheated more than 100 people of more than Rs 10 crores in the name of promising high returns in real estate investments
By Newsmeter Network Published on 11 Jun 2024 2:38 PM GMTHyderabad: The officials of the Central Crime Station have warned the public against a repeated offender who has used multiple deceptive methods to trap people interested in investing in real estate and suffering from health issues.
The accused is said to have cheated more than 100 people of more than Rs 10 crores in the name of promising high returns in real estate investments.
Case details
The police said that the accused, Molla Shivaiah alias Siva Kumar, has been promoting false claims through his YouTube channels. In his channels, Mimamsa and Reboot, he gives ‘motivational speeches’ with attractive titles where he claims to train people to earn money through real estate investments.
Shivaiah, along with his wife Swarna Latha and son, would organise indoor and online meetings and collect fees from each participant up to Rs 1 lakh per participant.
During the training sessions, Shivaiah would advise attendees about his investment strategy in bank auctions, real estate investments on commercial lands etc. He said he would invest 50 per cent and ask for the rest of 50 per cent promising profits of up to 200 per cent.
He would also issue post-dated cheques, promissory notes and MoUs to the investors as security from his companies called Mimamsa, Realty Aura and Jyoshika Investors Club to gain their trust.
Police said that around 30 people who invested nearly Rs 10.86 crores in his plans were cheated. Based on the complaint of these investors, two cases were registered at CCS, DD, here against Shivaiah and his family members who are accused of cheating the 30 members and other 40 members in the name of real-estate training.
Accused claimed to be a naturopathy doctor
The police also said that Shivaiah misled people with his YouTube videos and podcasts claiming to be a naturopathy doctor. Under the name Neuro Linguistic Programme (NLP) trainer he would claim to cure all types of diseases like BP, Diabetes, Thyroid, Cancer etc.
The police stated that multiple cases have been registered against him in LB Nagar, Bachupalli and KPHB police stations. He along with his family members and their advocate G Srinivas is the primary accused in a case registered at the Central Crime Station here.
Accused arrested; continued crimes after bail
Molla Shivaiah was also taken into judicial custody for 88 days in Chanchalguda jail. All the accounts related to the accused have been frozen and properties are attached under the TSPDFE Act, 1999 during the investigation and the case is under investigation at CCS, Hyderabad.
However, even after getting released on bail, Shivaiah continued making YouTube videos and attracting innocent people for his real-estate training and Mimamsa wellness resorts/medical camps.
