Hyderabad: Police have registered a case against RedBus and Taruni Trans and Logistics after 25 passengers were allegedly cheated and forced to travel from Hyderabad to Goa in a poorly maintained bus.
The incident occurred on April 17 when passengers boarded a bus from LB Nagar around 10 pm. Despite booking tickets for a well-equipped AC bus through the RedBus app, they were provided a substandard vehicle with non-functional air conditioning, severely worn-out tyres, and a foul stench caused by an engine oil leak.
Angry passengers got off at S.R. Nagar Metro Station and staged a protest, accusing Taruni Trans and Logistics of mismanagement and fraud. They alleged that while their tickets were for bus number MP 45 ZE 7529, they were instead put on another busāMP 45 ZE 7505āwithout any prior information.
M. Mahesh, an IT professional from Siddipet, filed a police complaint on behalf of the passengers. The Madhuranagar police registered a zero FIR on Friday and transferred the case to LB Nagar police station for further investigation.
āThe passengers were misled. A case has been registered and an investigation is underway,ā said Inspector Srinivas Varma of Madhuranagar Police Station. He added that some passengers have booked alternative transport, while others are seeking refunds.
Passengers have demanded strict action against both RedBus and Taruni Trans and Logistics for compromising safety standards and customer trust.
