Hyderabad: Acting on a complaint from SKF, Hyderabad Police raided three shops in the Raniganj–Secunderabad region and seized nearly 2,000 counterfeit bearings along with thousands of fake packaging materials, officials said on Monday.

The enforcement drive was carried out under the jurisdiction of the Mahankali Police Station, following allegations that spurious products were being sold in the name of the reputed bearing manufacturer.

Raid in Raniganj and Secunderabad

Police teams conducted simultaneous searches at:

S V Tool & Bearing in Raniganj

Bearing International at Ganji Complex

A 2 Z Machinery Store in Secunderabad

The operation was supported by representatives of SKF, who assisted officials in identifying counterfeit products.

Counterfeit goods seized

During the raids, authorities confiscated:

1,987 counterfeit bearing pieces

Approximately 2,780 fake outer box sheets used for packaging

Officials said the fake bearings were being sold as genuine SKF products, potentially misleading customers and affecting machinery performance and safety.

FIRs registered

Police registered First Information Reports (FIRs) against the individuals involved. The accused have been booked for dealing in counterfeit goods and misleading consumers.

The crackdown is part of ongoing efforts to curb the circulation of fake industrial products in the city and protect consumers from substandard materials.

Action following customer complaints

According to police, SKF initiated an internal investigation after receiving complaints about questionable product quality in the Hyderabad region. The probe led to the identification of suspected outlets, following which the company approached the police.

Officials said further investigation is underway to trace the supply chain of the counterfeit bearings and identify other possible distributors in the region.

Police have urged traders and consumers to remain vigilant and report any suspected counterfeit products to authorities.
