Hyderabad: Police intensify checking after MCC; seize 7 kg gold biscuits, 295 kg silver

Hyderabad: Intensifying checking after the model code of conduct (MCC) came into force, Abid Nagar police seized 700 grams (7 kg) of pure gold biscuits and 295 kg of pure silver, all worth Rs 7,50,00,000.

On Monday, the Election Commission of India announced the schedule to the Legislative Assembly of Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram, and Rajasthan.

On the same day evening, Abid Road police organized Nakabandi/vehicle checking. A vehicle was intercepted near Gate No 1, Nizam College. On checking, the police found some bags with gold and silver.

Further, on inquiry, it is found that Sai Kumar (Driver), K. Venkatesh (Office employee), and M. Shiva Prasad (office accountant) are working in Caps Gold Pvt Ltd located at RP Road, Secunderabad.

They were transporting pure gold and silver material to their sub-branch situated at Modi Arcade, Gunfoundary, Abids, Hyderabad.




On further inquiry with the said persons about the bills pertaining to the gold & silver materials, they neither gave a proper reply nor produced relevant documents/bills.

They have shown one delivery paper which needs to be verified thoroughly through IT and GST Department and Static Surveillance Team (SST) of Election Cell for further inquiry.

Police have seized the material and further investigation is on.
