Hyderabad: Hundreds of protestors gathered at Hussain Sagar to protest against the Waqf Amendment Bill 

Hyderabad: Hundreds of people took to the streets to protest against the Waqf Amendment Act 2025. Protestors urged Telangana chief minister Revanth Reddy not to implement the Waqf Amendment Act 2025 in the state. Protesters demanded that a resolution must be passed in the Telangana Assembly to not implement the bill passed by the Parliament.

Those participating in the protest were not only Mulsims but people from all sections of the society who gathered in large numbers at Hussain Sagar, Tunk Bund on Sunday evening.

Women were also seen in good numbers holding placards and demanding that there must be a rollback of the bill. There were social workers, advocates, professionals, businessmen, and others who participated in huge numbers from the surrounding areas of Hyderabad.

Demands for Telangana

The demands set forth by the protesters in Telangana included that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy must pass a resolution in the Assembly rejecting the Waqf Amendment Bill passed by the Parliament.

Advocate M A Shakeel said, ā€œPeople came voluntarily and protested against the people. Irrespective of affiliation to political parties, class or other social barriers, people took the effort on Sunday evening to protest against the bill. This clearly shows that people are against this black bill.ā€

The protesters said that this voice and demonstration must be respected by the state government and they must accordingly ensure that the bill is not implemented in Telangana.

Registration of dissent

Innumerable organisations came forward to register their dissent against the Waqf Amendment bill, which was termed as unconstitutional.

Call of the Congress party

In Telangana, the protest call of ā€˜Waqf Bachao March Against Waqf Actā€™ was given by the Congress party. While Congress party workers and minority wing members participated in large numbers, civil society, professionals, and others also joined the protest.
