Hyderabad: Chowrangee, a new platform for arts and culture in Hyderabad, will host its inaugural event Raag-o-Rang on January 24. The event will feature music and drama at Shilpakala Vedika in Hi-Tech City, starting at 6 pm.
Performance by Sounak Chattopadhyay
The event will showcase a performance by Sounak Chattopadhyay, a noted Hindustani vocalist. Chattopadhyay, known for blending classical music with modern genres, will present a tribute to Mohammad Rafi on his birth centenary.
Speaking about the performance, Chattopadhyay said, āMy music is deeply rooted in tradition, but itās also important to connect with contemporary audiences. This evening is a celebration of Indiaās musical legacy.ā
Spotlight on Gauhar Jaan
For the first time in Hyderabad, Arpita Chatterjee will perform the solo musical āMy Name is Jaanā. The production revolves around the life of Gauhar Jaan, Indiaās first recorded artist. Through multilingual storytelling in English, Hindi and Bengali, the play delves into Gauharās journey, her pioneering role in Indian music, and her contributions to the freedom struggle.
Arpita Chatterjee shared, āGauhar Jaanās life is a reflection of resilience and brilliance. This play is my tribute to her legacy and ability to rise above societal constraints.ā
