Hyderabad: Many areas were plunged into darkness after massive rains and thunderstorms hit Hyderabad on Sunday night.
The intensity of the thunderstorm was so intense that many trees were uprooted which blocked the roads in many areas. However, the city finally received some relief yesterday as it experienced a refreshing rainy spell, which brought respite from the scorching heat.
The rainfall varied between 10-30mm in different areas of the city, with Gajularamaram receiving the highest of 30.8mm.
According to Balaji, popularly known as Telangana Weatherman, moderate to heavy rains lashed Nizamabad, Kamareddy, and Medak in the last two hours. These rains are expected to spread across Sircilla, Siddipet districts, and parts of Karimnagar later.

Another spell of heavy rains also lashed Mahabubnagar, Narayanpet, Gadwal, and Wanaparthy, which are expected to spread across Nagarkurnool districts. The downpour is expected to bring respite to these regions from the ongoing heatwave.
India Meteorological Department said the sky over the region is expected to be generally cloudy. There is a likelihood of light to moderate rainfall or thundershowers, with the possibility of occasional intense spells.
The rain spells may be accompanied by gusty winds with speeds ranging from 40-50 kmph. The IMD advised caution and preparedness for any potential disruption that could arise due to the weather conditions.
