Hyderabad rains claim another life, Grey hounds constable died of electrocution
Due to heavy rain and gust winds, he lost control and fell on the foot path along with his bike
By Newsmeter Network Published on 1 May 2023 1:16 AM ISTHyderabad: A day after the death of 10-year-old Mounika due to heavy rains and damaged roads, Hyderabad rains claims another life of a 45-year-old Grey Hounds constable who died due to electrocution while travelling on bike on Sunday night.
The incident took place at around 9.40 pm while he was returning from Yusuf Guda after meeting his younger brother who works in Telangana State special police 1st Batalion.
The 45 year old Solem Veeraswamy was travelling on a bike towards NTR Bhavan on the free left road. Due to heavy rains and gust winds, he lost control and fell on the foot path, where there is an electric pole. He came in contact with the pole and was electrocuted.
Jubilee Hills patrolling personnel who got the information through Dial 100 visited the spot. They also attempted CPR.
He was taken to Apollo, at Jubilee Hills, but the doctors declared dead.
The constable from Mahabubabad lives with his family in Grey Hounds Quarters, Gandipet.
A case has been registered in Jubilee hills police under section 174.
On April 29, a 10-year-old girl died after she slipped into broken pathway at Kalasiguda in Secunderabad. Mounika went to buy milk packets with her 15-year-old brother. While trying to save her brother who fell into the pathway, she slipped. The strong currents of the water quickly swept her away. Despite the efforts of onlookers, she could not be rescued.
Local authorities were alerted to the incident, and the Disaster Response Force (DRF) team quickly arrived at the scene. The search for Mounika went on for several hours. Later her body was found near a nala at Park Lane, Secunderabad.
