Hyderabad: Rapido to give free rides to 2600 polling booths to encourage voting

Hyderabad: Rapido has announced free rides to over 2,600 polling stations in Hyderabad on November 30.

The initiative of the ride-sharing platform is aimed to encourage voters to actively participate in the democratic process.

The move reflects Rapido's commitment to bolstering voter turnout in Telangana, especially among its predominantly young user base.

Co-founder of Rapido, Pavan Guntupalli, highlighted the significance of India's democracy and expressed pride in contributing to making every vote count.

"We urge people to participate in greater numbers to cast their vote without worrying about transportation. By facilitating free bike rides on Election Day, we intend to encourage citizens to exercise their right to vote," Guntupalli stated.

Recognizing transportation as a crucial factor influencing voter participation, Rapido's offer of free rides aims to eliminate barriers and ensure widespread involvement in the election process.

The press release from Rapido emphasizes the company's dedication to fostering a culture of civic engagement, particularly among the younger demographic.

To avail the free rides, users need to enter the one-time code "VOTENOW" and can reach their respective polling stations without incurring any cost. This streamlined process enhances accessibility and aligns with Rapido's commitment to facilitating a seamless voting experience for citizens.

“The initiative not only demonstrates our commitment to social responsibility but also aligns with the spirit of democracy, treating the election day as a "festival of democracy." Said Guntupalli.

The company's proactive role in addressing the transportation barrier is expected to contribute significantly to higher voter turnout during the assembly elections.
