Hyderabad: Police have refunded Rs 1.41 crore to victims of cyber fraud in Hyderabad.
This marks an 87% jump compared to 2024.
Hyderabad's seven Zonal Cyber Cells (ZCCs) disposed of 8,209 petitions against 4,970 last year.
Surge in case documentation
A 680% rise was reported in incident report uploads to the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS), reflecting sharper documentation and stronger follow-up.
Review of Cyber Cell operations
These figures were shared during a review meeting chaired by Police Commissioner CV Anand. The performance review covered petition disposal, refund mechanisms, case detections, awareness drives, coordination through the Samanvaya Portal, and CCTNS uploads.

Focus on Ground-Level challenges
Interacting with Deputy Inspectors, Sub-Inspectors, and Constables, the commissioner noted the progress made while also identifying operational hurdles. He assured staff that their basic requirements would be addressed and promised support to close existing gaps.
Call for Inter-Agency coordination
Pointing to the rising public awareness of cybercrime, Anand urged ZCC officers to strengthen coordination with banks, telecom providers, and judicial agencies to speed up fraud resolution. He emphasised that sustained training and awareness campaigns remain the backbone of prevention.
