Hyderabad: RTA database to integrate with TGICCC to streamline vehicle challan issuance

Hyderabad: With an aim to enhance road safety and streamline traffic enforcement, the Telangana Integrated Command and Control Centre (TGICCC) in Hyderabad will soon be integrated with the Road Transport Authority (RTA) database.

Real-time vehicle data for efficient challan issuance

The State government said that the integration will enable real-time access to key vehicle information such as registration, insurance and pollution control certificates during traffic checks, allowing traffic personnel to issue challans based on verified data.

The decision was taken during a high-level meeting held at the T-GICCC in Banjara Hills. T-GICCC Director VB Kamalasan Reddy and transport commissioner S Surendra Mohan jointly approved the move, which is expected to enhance transparency and accuracy in enforcement.

Traffic police to gain instant data access

Officials said that once the integration is in place, traffic police will be able to instantly retrieve comprehensive vehicle details from the T-GICCC system at the time of enforcement, significantly improving operational efficiency.

Focus on i-TIMS and surveillance capabilities

The meeting also reviewed the progress of the Integrated Traffic Management System (i-TIMS), focusing on components such as Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) systems, public addressing setups, and Variable Message Display (VMD) boards. The team assessed the types of surveillance cameras currently in use, along with their technical specifications and video analytics capabilities.

Part of a broader smart city initiative

Senior transport department officials Chandrasekhar Goud and Sivalingayya, who were also present, noted that the initiative is part of the State government’s broader push to leverage technology for smarter urban governance and efficient traffic regulation across Telangana.
