Hyderabad: Stage set for unveiling Dr. BR Ambedkar’s statue on April 14; thousands to attend

Hyderabad: Hyderabad is all set to witness the unveiling of 125 feet tall statue of Dr. BR Ambedkar.
Spread across 11.4 acres, the project is estimated to cost Rs 146 crore. The unveiling ceremony, which is scheduled for April 14, will be presided over by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao. As a result, Necklace Road will be closed for vehicular traffic on the day.
Chief Secretary A Santhi Kumari reviewed the preparations in a meeting on Monday.
The health department was asked to deploy ambulances and health staff at the venue. Proper seating arrangements for dignitaries and attendees from different districts will be made
Police were also instructed to issue an advisory to the public well in advance as Necklace Road would be closed on April 14. Additionally, the district administrations of Khammam and Kothagudem have been asked to make arrangements for the public to attend the event.
District Collectors from Khammam and Kothagudem have instructed officials to ensure that buses hired for the purpose reach each constituency headquarters by the evening of April 13. ID cards will be issued to all those attending the event. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and water bottles will be provided.
In all, 60 buses, 30 each from Kothagudem and Khammam districts, will be hired to transport around 3000 persons besides the staff. The event is expected to attract a large number of people from all over the state.
About the statue
-The 125-feet Dr B R Ambedkar statue's outer layer is made of beige sandstone sourced from Rajasthan, while the cladding is made of bronze.
-The statue's left hand will hold the original Constitution of India in bronze.
-The circular edifice, which resembles the parliament, will also house a museum, library, and an audio-visual hall.
-The statue is designed by renowned sculptors Ram Vanji Sutar and his son Anil Ram Sutar.
