Hyderabad: Standard 3 student killed, father injured after school bus hits bike; driver held

Hyderabad: An 8-year-old girl was killed and her father injured when a Bhashyam School bus hit their Activa on Wednesday morning.

The victim was identified as Dikshita, a 3rd standard student at Delhi Public School, Bowrampet. She was on her way to school with her father Kishore when the incident occurred.

“The incident took place around 7:45 am between Pradeep Constructions and Reddy's Lab. The driver of the school bus was driving recklessly. Due to the impact of the collision, Kishore and Dikshita fell on the right side of the road. Dikshita was run over by the bus and lost her life on the spot. Her body was immediately shifted to Gandhi Hospital. Kishore sustained a fracture in his hand. He was taken to Mamtha Hospital for treatment,” said SHO Bachupally N Suman Kumar.

The driver of the school bus has been taken into custody for further investigation. Initial reports suggest that he was neither under the influence of alcohol nor driving without a valid license.

"The accident was caused due to negligence of the driver. We are gathering more details about the incident," he said.
