Hyderabad: Corporate world has slipped into a shock after a top business magnate claimed that an unknown person threatened and demanded Rs five crore.

Executive Chairman of Subhagruha Infrastructures Pvt Limited Namburu Kalyan Chakravarthy filed a complaint with Banjara Hills police station after he was repeatedly pestered to pay Rs five crore.

He told police that a man by the name of Mannem Chandra Sekhar demanded Rs 5 crore to settle some unresolved issues with the government.

According to the Banjara Hills police, the series of events began in June when Chakravarthy received a call from Mannem Chandra Sekhar.

The caller insisted on paying Rs 5 crore to resolve unspecified issues troubling the business tycoon.

Chakravarthy chose to disregard the demands. However, the relentless nature of the calls and messages followed. He received messages on WhatsApp and FaceTime from different numbers to exert pressurize and intimidate him.

The situation took a serious turn when Mannem Chandra Sekhar decided to confront Namburu Kalyan Chakravarthy in person.

On June 6, Sekhar arranged a meeting at Park Hayat Hotel, Banjara Hills. During the meeting, he reportedly claimed several government departments had filed complaints against Chakravarthy.

The accused promised to resolve the matter but only if Chakravarthy paid him Rs 5 crore.

Fearing for his life ruse, Namburu Kalyan Chakravarthy departed from the meeting, refusing to be a victim of this blatant extortion attempt.

Following the harrowing experience and the escalating threats, he approached Banjara Hills police on Thursday, where he lodged a complaint against Mannem Chandra Sekhar for extortion, blackmailing, and threats.

A case has been registered under sections 387 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
