According to the police, Mohammed Jamal of Mailardevpally worked as a tailor at the workshop of the minor girl's family for the last four years. While working at the workshop, he used to visit the minor's house for some of the other work. Jamal interacted with the family regularly and in one instance expressed his intention to marry his daughter. However, the family members rejected the proposal.
On Saturday evening, the owner called Jamal's elder brother and complained about the harassment to his family. Jamal and the minor girl had been in love for two years and intended to get married, but the minor's parents asked them to wait until the girl reached adulthood.
Infuriated over this, Jamal reportedly ran into the second-floor balcony. Jamal kept the cylinder on the second floor and knocked on the door of the house. When the family members did not open the door, he doused himself with diesel and set himself ablaze. He fell down from the building. On information, the police rushed to the spot and shifted him to Osmania General Hospital. He succumbed to injuries later. A case has been registered and an investigation has been set in motion. Police have filed a case of suspicious death under section 174 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
